• Steve Demaree-native Lexingtonian, who has yet to move from Lexington; spent twenty years in business; ten more years as a movie critic; and now have been writing books for eight years. written ten books and published eight Six are still in print; wife, the former Nell Fannin from Morehead, KY; we have a grown daughter, Kelly. I read over one hundred books a year, mostly fiction, and am an avid UK basketball fan. My most popular series is my Lt. Dekker-Sgt. Murder murder mystery series. My two detectives live in a small town, where they are the entire homicide division. They love to eat and solve murders, but detest exercise in any form. The books are whodunits with enough clues to keep you guessing, and enough humor to keep you laughing. The second of my series is my Aylesford Place series. These books are about a successful young author who inherits his grandparents large home and plans to move there, hole up on the third floor, and write his next book. the first two years after the author moves in. These aptly-titled books are Aylesford Place: The First Year and Aylesford Place: The third of my series, which was actually the first one written, is my inspirational short story series. I have finished three books for this series, and after releasing all three, combined them into one book, called Stories From The Heart. This book contains seventy very short stories, which people have told me made them laugh, made them cry, and made them think. I am currently working on three other books; my first thriller, my fourth mystery in my Lt. Dekker-Sgt. Murdock series, and a book of my life that tells my experiences of growing up in Lexington in the 1950-1960s. I have also completed a Christian daily devotional book that I hope to publish soon. While my books were written for adults, they can be read by any age group with good reading skills. None of my books contain any profanity, sex, or graphic violence.

  • In addition to the books I had last year, I will have some new books. I have Photo Finish, a stand alone mystery, and expect to have as many as three new books before April 10; The Parkway Arms Murder Mystery, the fourth book in the Lt. Dekker-Sgt. Murdock series, Lexington Born and Bred, an autobiography about growing up in Lexington in the 1950s and 1960s, and possibly Reflecting Upon God's Word, a Christian daily devotional book with a scripture verse and reflection for each day of the year. Those three will be in addition to the seven books I currently have. I have been busy writing this year.
