Don
Dampier-author of Finding the Fifties and Why Write a
Book; Why Write a Book is a celebration of writing books, and a
tribute to writers everywhere, especially the multitudes of very fine
published authors scattered throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
The book places an emphasis on the joys, and value of reading books,
and in this high-tech world, encourages people of all ages to continue
to pick up books to read for their enlightenment, enhancement and
enjoyment. Why Write a Book inviters the reader to join the author of
Finding the Fifties in a five year venture/adventure journey of many
meandering trails, leading to the outcome of publishing his first-born
book, described as “just having a baby!” It is not a sequel, but a
continuation of the story of Finding the Fifties, first delving into
the author’s background, which stimulated the motivations for writing
and publishing a book. Nor, is Why Write a Book a “how to”, but
encourages the reader to “sit at the feet” of many accomplished
professionals residing in our Commonwealth to learn the techniques of
writing and pursuing the publishing process. However, it recounts the
“trial ‘n error” exciting experiences, including the joys of
discoveries through research, by applying the allegory of sailing the
sometimes rough seas to finally safely anchor in port with a
self-published book. |
