is the author of three books. Harlan County Haunts and her
new release, More Harlan County Haunts, are
compilations of true stories focusing on Harlan County, Kentucky.
Because of the novella, Caroline, in which the book features,
Harlan County Haunts recently made national news.
Caroline is a tale about a cold case in Harlan County and
Harlan County Haunts has rejuvenated interest in the 1969 murder
mystery. More Harlan County Haunts, which was released in May
2009, is a compilation of over 100 true ghosts stories from around
the Harlan County area. Jackson has also published a children’s book
called Yona Uwuyati, The Cherokee Bear that teaches words
from the Cherokee language. Jackson, a lifelong resident of Harlan
County, is a folk and literary roster artist with the Kentucky Arts
Council. She is a tribal member of the Piqua Shawnee tribe of
Alabama and serves on the Kentucky Native American Heritage
Commission.
