H. Gabhart-a native Kentuckian, started writing when she was ten
and has been writing ever since. Her first novel, a historical
romance about the settling of Kentucky, was published by Warner Books
in 1978. Since then, she’s had seventeen other books for both adults
and young adults published by various publishers. The Scent of Lilacs,
her first inspirational fiction novel, was chosen as one of Booklist’s
Top Ten Books in Christian Fiction for 2006. Orchard of Hope (2007)
and Summer of Joy (2008) followed The Scent of Lilacs and make up
Ann’s Hollyhill books. Ann’s current release, The Outsider, about a
Shaker girl and a frontier doctor set in 1812, has been chosen as a
finalist for the Evangelical Christian Publishers’ Association
Christian Book of 2009 in fiction. Angels at the Crossroads, Ann’s
only nonfiction book, tells one man’s story of going down many wrong
roads and ending up in prison, but the Lord didn’t give up on Jerry.
Instead He put people – earth angels – in his path to point him back
to the right roads and lead him out of prison into a redeemed life.
Jerry Shepherd’s story has inspired many readers. Ann and her husband,
Darrell, who sings bass for the Patriot Quartet, live on a farm in
Anderson County, Kentucky. They have six children and eight
