Text Box: .
Our festival is in the fourth year of providing excellent quilting instructors promoting the art of quilting. New classes this year are Stained Glass Construction , Rug Hooking and “Cooking With The Colonel,” a class on the art of making sauces with The Host of Kentucky: Colonel Michael Masters and his lovely wife, Margaret Sue.
The first festival was held at Pine Mountain State Park in Pineville, Kentucky and was moved to Barbourville, Kentucky for 2006. Barbourville is rich in history. The first permanent dwelling in Kentucky was built here on the banks of the Cumberland River by Dr. Thomas Walker, and is now a state shrine. The first skirmish in the state during the civil war was in Barbourville.
Each year the festival has grown to include events for the whole family and is organized by volunteers from our community. Quilters from many different states come to enjoy our quality class instructions and visit our Merchant Mall. Union College, Kentucky’s First College in the Mountains, provides a picturesque setting for our festival.
